For the past year, my family and I have been volunteering with Grassroots Grocery - a Bronx-based non-profit whose volunteer drivers bring fresh unsold "rescued" produce to neighbors in need. Every Saturday, volunteers reach over 1000 families across over 28 hyper-local community sites.
