I was lucky enough to secure a spot in the New York City Marathon while also raising money for a great cause – Grassroots Grocery. 

Grassroots Grocery is a food distribution network that utilizes a large volunteer network to bring healthy food directly to under-resourced communities in the Bronx. Since March 2021, Grassroots Grocery has delivered over 500,000 pounds of fresh, excess, unsold produce to those in need. Thanks to volunteer drivers, Grassroots Grocery brings food to places such as local community fridges and people who are homebound. Each and every Saturday, Grassroots Grocery feeds over 800 families.

It is so upsetting to know that families in New York face food insecurity every SINGLE day. As a parent of two young children, it is unfathomable to me that any parent should have to stress about whether they will have enough food in the fridge to feed their kids. I hope that by raising money for Grassroots Grocery, I can play a small role in relieving this stress for families who live nearby.
